ORGANIZATIONAL PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES
COMMITTEE FOR FIRESAFE DWELLINGS
The Committee for Firesafe Dwellings (CFFD) is a non-profit mutual benefit corporation
whose primary purposes and objective are:
- To foster and promote fire safety in residential
structures and urban-wildland interface areas.
- To promote fire safety through educational
programs, including the support of programs
which are developed and conducted by fire
and building departments and their respective
professional associations.
- To promote quality installation of building
materials, assemblies, and systems by providing
information and support to contractors, building
and fire department officials.
- To develop and provide materials and information
regarding fire safety, fire resistive construction
and quality installation of materials, assemblies,
and systems for distribution to the general
public by fire departments, building departments,
and Committee members.
- To provide information to homeowners, developers,
and others in the housing market to assist
them in decisions related to the selection
and installation of quality fire retardant
building materials, assemblies, and systems.
- To develop and inculcate high standards of
business integrity, equity, and justice in
all who are either directly or indirectly
connected with firesafe construction, to
the end that industry may conduct business,
and provide public fire safety education
programs with the confidence and respect
of the public, public officials, and other
members of the construction and fire protection
industries.
- To mediate, adjust, and assist in the settlement
of disputes and difference among Committee
members, or among the public among the public
and Committee members, where possible; provided
however, that the Committee’s efforts as
a mediator in bringing about a resolution
of differences and disputes shall be done
with voluntary consent of all parties. The
Committee for Firesafe Dwellings shall exercise
no poser or authority in the matter.
